Introduction
(by David)

Gainesville would be a small boring Northern Florida town like many others if it was not the home of University of Florida.

And because of this, it's a pretty fun city if you're young (or young at heart).

(How is it for an introduction?)

One important thing you need to know if you're not familiar with Gainesville (or even if you are seeing the number of people that get lost when looking for a place to go).
Gainesville is divided in four parts according to two axis; University Avenue and Main Street. Thus every address contains an indication of what part it is in (NW, SW, SE or NE). Also, be aware that "avenues", "places", "lanes" and "roads" are oriented east-west and "streets", "boulevards", "terraces", "drives" are oriented north-south. Because of this it's extremely easy to find any address in town.
Let's take an example: 307 NW 2nd Street will be located in the North West part of town, on the 2nd north-south street west of Main Street and in between the 3rd and the 4th east-west street (aka avenue) north of University Avenue.
Still sounds complicated? With some practice, you'll see how easy it is and soon you'll be able to locate any place in town.
