Nightclubs
(by
David)
I might not be the best person to talk about night-clubs in
Gainesville as they are numerous, but I really went to only two of
them on a regular basis, mostly because I was too old for some of
them, and I disliked the music of most of them (I'm incredibly picky
with the music I dance to, even more than with the music I listen to).
So, I hope somebody will help me with this page soon. :-)
-
The Atlantic:
15 N Main Street.
The indie/alternative/brit pop club of Gainesville, the theme might slightly
change from night to night, but it's always music I like. One could find me
there several nights a week during vacation time.

-
University Club: 18 E. University Avenue.
(but the entrance is behind the building, on NE 1st Avenue.)
Better known just by "UC", this is THE gay club of Gainesville. But the
place is so popular that it's getting invaded by straight people (like
myself) on certain nights. The two main events of the week are the drag show
on Thursdays which is always a lot of fun, and Death Disco on Mondays. And
if I'd go out on a Monday night, there is no way I'd go somewhere
else. Let me reformulate; if I didn't have to get up too early on Tuesday, I
would go there on Monday night, no excuse. It's just the best music you can
imagine in a club nowadays (if you have similar tastes than mine obviously),
with an amazing atmosphere, most of the people being regulars, this is the
place (out of the classrooms) where I met the most people I think. And of
all the places I miss the most from Gainesville, this one is in my top
three.
