 Coffee Shops
(by David)

  • Book Lover's Café: 505 NW 13th St.

A coffee shop where one can also it, and that is located in a bookstore. A good place to go (even if I used to go there mostly for books)

  • Maude's Classic Café: 101 SE 2nd Place.

Located next to the Hippodrome State Theater, it might be the most European looking coffee shop in town, the terrace is great (far from cars), the desserts are awesome. Only problem, service is somewhat slow, but who cares.

Of course, Starbuck's is everywhere, but even if the coffee they serve is pretty good, I have issues with this chain. Always prefer a local shop to a chain if you have the choice.

In Memoriam: I have to mention the Java Lounge, the best coffee shop I ever knew, a real second home to many, the place I would spend most of my time in Gainesville, but which sadly closed in August 2005, a few days after I left Gainesville (no it didn't close because it lost all of its business after my departure).
